Spring may seem far away, but we're already planning on a fantastic start to the golf season:

First, the Fluvanna Historical Society (FCHS) will give two tickets to one of our lucky supporters so they and a guest can attend the final round of the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill Country Club, right here in Western New York (WNY), on Sunday, May 21st, 2023.

Plus, the Historical Society is partnering with Oak Hill Country Club to offer a History Talk on March18th, 2023. Open to the public, this presentation will focus on the history of golf in WNY, the PGA Championship and Oak Hill. For more information, see below or click here to RSVP for the event.

What is the PGA Championship?

Golf fanatics need no explanation. The PGA Championship constitutes one of the four "major championships" within the world of golf. Universally recognized as the most prestigious of all golf tournaments, winning one or more of the "the majors" marks the pinnacle of a golfer's career. In addition to inviting other elite professional golfers from around the world, the PGA reserves 20 of the 156 spots for top club professionals to participate in the PGA Championship. Last year, the prize money for the PGA Championship totaled over $15 million.

When and Where is the PGA Championship?

The PGA Championship occurs in late May, the weekend before Memorial Day. Each year, the PGA chooses one of the top golf courses in the United States to host the tournament. Only the best and most challenging courses in the country qualify to host the PGA Championship.

In 2023, PGA Championship returns to WNY to take place on the East Course of the renowned Oak Hill Country Club. The previous site of three PGA Championships, and nine other major golf tournaments, Oak Hill's East Course is one of the premier golf courses in the Western hemisphere. WNY will once again have a front row seat to witness golf history in the making from May 15th to May 21st.

What's Included in the PGA Championship Raffle?

Tickets for the PGA Championship have been sold out for months. While day passes may be available for the start of the tournament, golf fans snapped up the coveted tickets for the final rounds of the PGA Championship quite some time ago. HOWEVER ...

The good news is that you can still score tickets to the PGA Championship. A generous benefactor of our community donated two tickets to the final round of the tournament on Championship Sunday. FCHS will raffle these tickets to help raise funds for the Historical Society. Not only this, but one night stay at a local hotel will also be included in the raffle (so no need to hurry home after the tournament)! The lucky winner will receive two Championship+ tickets including the following:

  • Two (2) general admission access to the Oak Hill grounds for the final round of the tournament on Championship Sunday;

  • All-inclusive food and non-alcohol beverages at all on-course concession venues;

  • Two (2) entree items, two (2) snack items and two (2) non-alcoholic beverages each time one visits a concession venue (return as many times as desired);

  • Access to general merchandise shopping areas;

  • One night accommodation at a local well-appointed Airbnb establishment from May 21-22, 2023.

A ticket for the raffle costs only $20 for a chance to win this package valued at well over $700 in total.
