About Us

"Connecting with our past, connecting with each other and connect with a brighter future."

The Fluvanna Community Historical Society (FCHS) formed in 2008 as part of a grassroots effort to preserve the history of Fluvanna and the region overall, revitalize our community and convey our heritage to future generations. To help further our mission, the Historical Society obtained a provisional charter from the Regents of the University of the State of New York, IRS 501(c)(3) tax exempt status and an hundred-year lease of the Fluvanna's historic Meeting House.

Leadership

You, the members of FCHS, direct the affairs of the Historical Society, elect officers and constitute the lifeblood of the organization. Once a year, FCHS members meet to choose a President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Trustees as required by the Society's Charter, Constitution and Bylaws.

The Board of Trustees governs and bears the legal responsibility to ensure the Historical Society fulfills the distinctive purpose for which we created FCHS.  The Trustees are a group of dedicated individuals who willingly volunteer their services in order to connect the community with our past, with each other and with a brighter future.
