Explore Fluvanna’s Pottery Heritage
The Fluvanna Community Historical Society, and the Pearl City Clay House, invite you to explore an important chapter in the area’s early history through a program focused on Fluvanna’s pottery tradition and its lasting connection to the community.
In the early 1800s, Fluvanna was home to a thriving pottery industry, supported by the availability of local clay and the needs of a growing region. These early efforts helped shape the local economy and left behind a legacy that remains part of the area’s identity today.
A Visual History Presentation
This program will begin with a free history talk, open to all, featuring guest speaker Vince Martonis, an expert in regional redware pottery and the local potters who supplied early settlers in Chautauqua County.
